Ana Guevara
Did you know- In Edmonton (Canada), Mexico's runner Ana Guevara picked up a bronze medal in the women's 400m (49,97 seconds) in the IAAF World Championships in 2001.
Blanca Garcia
Did you know- By the late and early 1970s, Mexico's athlete Blanca Garcia was one of the most prominent volleyball players in the Western Hemisphere, together with Luisa Fuentes (Peru) and Mercedes Pérez (Cuba). At the 1968 Mexico Olympics, she was one of the best players. Two years later, by 1970, the women's volleyball team from Mexico, under the leadership of Blanca Garcia, captured the gold medal in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Panama City. In the gold-medal game, Mexico had defeated Cuba.
Enriqueta Basilio
Did you know- By 1968, Enriqueta Basilio made international headlines when she carried the Olympic flame into the stadium at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Mexico City. Mexico's hurdler Basilio was the first woman to carry the Olympic flame.
Maria Teresa Ramirez
Did you know- Swimmer Maria Teresa Ramírez picked up a bronze medal in the women's 800m at the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games. She was one of the few female swimmers in Latin America to win an Olympic medal, along with Jeanette Campbell, Silvia Poll, Georgina Bardach, and Claudia Poll. By the early 1970s, she had won many gold medals at the XI Central American and Caribbean Games.
Pan American Games
Did you know- Between October 12 and October 26, the Mexican Olympic Committee sent a team of 77 sportswomen to the Pan American Games in Mexico City. They competed in athletics, basketball, diving, equestrian, fencing, gymnastics, swimming, synchronized swimming, tennis, and volleyball. They won five medals (1 silver and 4 bronze). On the other hand, the best athletes were: Blanca Estrada (fencing), Alejandra Vallejo (tennis), Blanca Garcia (volleyball), and Cristina Betancourt (basketball). During the 1975 Games, the women's basketball squad of Mexico, 6th in the FIBA World Cup in 1975, was runner-up (behind the United States).

Did you know- The nation's tennis player Rosa Maria Reyes captured three continental titles in the Pan American Games: Mexico City 1955 (doubles & singles) and Chicago 1959 (doubles). She also earned the gold medal in the women's doubles, with Yolanda Ramírez, at the VIII Central American and Caribbean Games in Caracas (Venezuela) in 1959.
Soraya Mendivil
Did you know- Soraya Mendivil was one of weightlifting's greatest performers in the 2000s. Mexico 's weightlifter Mendivil won the gold medal in the women's 58-kilogram category at the 2000 Summer Games in Sydney (Australia).
Yolanda Ramírez
Did you know- In 1963, for the third time in a row, Yolanda Ramírez became Pan American champion (mixed) in the Pan American Games in Sao Paulo (Brazil). In addition, Miss Ramírez captured a gold medal in the women's doubles in the Continental Games in the United Mexican States in the late 50s. From 1954 to 1959, she had won four medals in the Central American and Caribbean Games. By 1958, she and Rosie Reyes made history when they won the women's doubles at the French Open in Paris.
